Safety Tips to celebrate New Year 2018 Safely
New Years Eve is a huge night for everyone, which means crowds will be swarming toward all around the world. People feed off each others' excitement, and sometimes things can get out of hand if safety precautions are not taken! Everyone wants to have an unforgettable night (in a good way!).
By simply using some common sense, we can keep it that way. Ring in the New Year safely. Here are few safety tips to celebrate new year safely. It's easy to assume that if you're celebrating at home you'll be safe, but even here there are some things to bear in mind when organizing your party.
- Children, teenagers and pets all need to be accounted for, and safety precautions in place to keep them out of harm's way. Ensure there is someone to supervise young children who will stay sober, and make sure stairs or other non child friendly areas, such as the kitchen, are blocked off from toddlers.
- Provide large bins for collecting used bottles for recycling. This will reduce the risk of bottles left laying around or being knocked off furniture and smashed.
- Consider the fire hazards posed by open flames from candles or from cigarettes. A lot of decorations are flammable, so make sure they are placed out of harm's way.
- If you're letting off fireworks, follow all safety guidelines. Have one person in charge of lighting them, and make sure it's someone who is sober. Keep children at a safe distance, and don't let them pick up the spent casings.
- If you're driving, be aware of your surroundings. New Year's Eve is notorious for drunk driving, and the best way to keep you and your loved ones safe, is to know where you're at and be alert while behind the wheel.
- If you're burning candles, incense or oil burners, remember to extinguish them before you turn in or before you leave the room they are burning in.
- The common sense tactics include not drinking and driving.
- A driver has to be designated before having that first drink. Public transportation is another safe option. If traveling in the back of a cab sounds unappealing then spend the night at a friend's place.
Here's hoping you and yours have a safe and happy new year 2018!
